For the past four months, the Portage County Drug Task Force has been running undercover operations and are now set to carry out 35 arrest warrants for drug violations with the assistance of local, state and federal agencies.

Over 90 violations have been documented following undercover purchases of marijuana, heroin, methamphetamine and prescription drugs, along with violations in other related charges.

Seven people were arrested in Ravenna and Streetsboro for heroin related charges last week.

Portage County is home to the main campus of Kent State University, a public research university with an annual enrollment of more than 26,000 students (42,000 students total when including regional branches), and Hiram College, a coeducational liberal arts college of about 1,300 students. It is unknown if any of the violators are enrolled at either school.
