Short story made long, when I found out the The Cult was  (were? I never know with some band names) coming to town, I mentioned it to Paula, or maybe she mentioned it to me, either way, we decided we’d go to the show. Paula took the night off and was looking forward to the show.  Me, not so much.  Just too much happening and I was tired, and blah blah blah. I just felt way too old and achy to be out and about, but not wanting to disappoint my friend, I met her at the Rocksino.  Boy am I glad I did!

Very happy to report that the band was tight, energetic, and looking very well.  I get disappointed when I pay good money to see a show and the artist hasn’t prepped for the tour at all.  It’s one thing not to be able to hit a few notes, it’s another thing to let the audience take over a song, or skip an entire verse for whatever reason.  And hey guys, if you know you’re going on tour, hop on that elliptical a bit please.  Again, no worries on this show!  New songs were decent.  Old stuff? I broke out into a lot of smiles, and for two girls looking to skate early, we stayed until the lights came back up!

I think I needed the night out more than I realized.  Something about just the energy in the room (reminded me of hanging out at The Phantasy back in the late 80’s) , bumping into friends you haven’t seen in decades, making new friends, singing at the top of your lungs to songs you haven’t heard since probably the last time you saw the band, maybe just the feeling of being young and carefree with no responsibilities for 90-minutes. Good times had by all!
