With starting left end Desmond Bryant likely lost for the season the Cleveland Browns added some much needed depth to the defensive line Friday by signing veteran Nick Hayden.

In addition to the loss of Bryant, who led the team with 6.0 sacks in 2015, his backup Armonty Bryant will serve a 4-game ban to start the year for a PED violation making the addition of Hayden significantly valuable.

Hayden was originally selected by Carolina in the sixth round of the 2008 draft and he enters his seventh season and has appeared in 76 games with Carolina (2008-10), Cincinnati (2011) and Dallas (2013-15). He started 15 games in 2015 with the Cowboys and totaled 48 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Listed at 6-3, 295-pounds, Hayden has logged 183 career tackles, two sacks, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

In addition to Hayden, the Browns will also likely turn to 2015 third round pick Xavior Cooper and rookie defensive lineman Carl Nassib to fill the void.
