CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan)The mystery surrounding cornerback K’Waun Williams’ absence the last 3 days from training camp cleared up Tuesday evening.

Williams has been suspended by the team for 2 weeks and fined 1 game check for a violation of team rules a league source confirmed to 92.3 The Fan.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network first reported the discipline levied against Williams stemming from his availability Friday night at Green Bay. Williams was inactive for the game and when questioned about Williams’ situation on Sunday following practice head coach Hue Jackson said, “Personal matter. We’ll leave it at that.” reported that Williams sustained an ankle injury, there was a dispute between him and the team over the severity of it and Williams was seeking a second opinion. The injury, coupled with his status on the depth chart behind Jamar Taylor at nickel did not sit well with Williams according to Rapoport.

Jackson did not want to discuss Williams’ status after Tuesday’s practice.

“We’ll talk about that at a different time,” Jackson said. “I just think there are a lot of mixed messages that are going on as far as all that’s concerned. I think we’ll deal with it, and I’m sure we’ll all talk about it at the appropriate time.”

Jackson was then asked if Williams was still away from the team to which he responded, “I’m not going to even comment on that right now.”

That comment from Jackson was a clear indication that there was a problem between the team and Williams that Jackson was not ready to address just yet.

The Browns signed Williams as an undrafted free agent in 2014 and he has played in 13 games in each of the last 2 seasons, including a total of 10 starts at nickel.
