Another former Browns first round pick bit the dust Thursday.
Barkevious Mingo – selected sixth overall in the 2013 draft – was dealt to the New England Patriots following 3 seasons that saw him register a total of 7 sacks and provide minimal impact defensively for a 2017 fifth round pick.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the deal.
Mingo appeared in 46 games with 16 starts where he registered a total of 99 tackles and 16 pass break-ups with an interception and fumble recovery.
In May the Browns declined the fifth-year option on his rookie contract making him a free agent after the 2016 season.
Of the six first round picks that the Browns made from 2011-2014, cornerback Justin Gilbert – selected eighth overall in 2014 – is the only one that remains.
