Eddie Vedder has released two singles aimed at creating awareness around the ever day struggle many people face living with debilitating diseases.

“Matter of Time” is a piano driven track written for those afflicted with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). It’s a rare skin condition that causes chronic blistering and sometimes permanent damage to the skin. A companion music video depicts an animated Vedder sorrowfully stroking keys as a young EB patient goes from wearing medical bandages to envisioning a future with a cure.

The other single, “Say Hi,” was written by 6-year-old Eli Meyer who also suffers from EB. The song is inspired by the #ComeSayHi movement, an initiative started by Eli's siblings to "Come Say Hi" to Eli to learn about Epidermolysis Bullosa.
Eddie sits strumming a guitar and singing the lyrics, with a quick shot of Eli jumping at the beginning.

Both tracks are part of Eddie and wife Jill’s Wednesday livestream event, Venture Into Cures. Celebrities like Bradley Cooper, Laura Dern, Billie Eilish and David Letterman gathered to perform and educate viewers on the dangers of Epidermolysis Bullosa, and how they can help find a cure. It’s a cause that motivates Eddie to help those in pain. "When you see the intense pain that these kids go through, the baths and the bandages,” he said in an official statement. “It’s about as hard a thing to watch as anything I’ve ever witnessed in my life.”

This year has been about giving back for the Pearl Jam frontman. His band teamed up with other popular artists in May for the All In WA COVID-19 relief concert. The statewide relief effort worked to empower the public and provide support for workers, families, and communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
